Loch Ness

The sun rises about 5 am.  Mom likes to wake up with natural light so we kept the curtain open a little bit – woke me right up, not her.

Today we drove through some beautiful country.  Ft. Augustus has 5 locks that look like stairs for boats, it takes them about 60 minutes to traverse the locks.  We saw some small canoe type boats and some larger boats as well.

We visited a castle ruins on the edge of Loch Ness and then took a 30 minute cruise on the Loch to another location.  The wind at the castle was cutting and cold.  We bought some gloves and Kristopher bought a great hat to keep his ears warm and then “loaned” me his scarf (ok, I begged) so my ears would stay warm.

It was not cold on the top deck of the boat so I stayed there for the entire trip.  It was so beautiful to see the loch and hillsides with the sun and rain in different locations.  I spoke to a scottish lady watching the scenery with me and she said it is always different but it is always beautiful. Nessie did not come to see us but the view was so amazing, we didn’t need her.

We drove up the coast to Thurso, a beautiful drive.  Once again it is good that I am not driving because I would want to stop every few minutes to walk around.  Can you imagine Kevin’s blood pressure levels if I made him do that?
