This new ride is located in the replica of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre that had held the ‘Great Movie Ride.’ The old ride took you through the different movies and sets via tram like car ride right through the middle of the movie set.
*Spoiler Alert* The following is a description of this new ride. If you want to be surprised, stop here and go ride the ride. You won’t be disappointed!
The new Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway track-less ride cars start out connected to a Locomotive driven by Goofy. The ride takes you around Runnamuck Park. You are joined by Mickey and Minnie Mouse. At a switch Goofy and the locomotive go one way and the passenger cars go the other. The train then encounters a windstorm Tornado at the Carnival, where Donald Duck’s feathers are all blown away and Minnie / Mickey’s balloon is tossed about.
Off the train track you find yourself floating down a river. Over the falls you go and into the deep under the water. Now we travel around the ocean bottom seeing all the sights. Then your car is sent in a room for dance lessons with Minnie Mouse. Each car dances the Waltz and then the Tango before you leave the lesson.
Back you come to join the Train driven by Engineer Goofy and you see Minnie and Mickey Mouse having a picnic. Goofy reassures you everything turned out fine and you are back from your adventure.
The ride truly makes you believe that you are traveling along the Runnamuck Park into the river, over the falls and back for the picnic.
Over the falls is amazing as the screens you see appear to be traveling along the river and down over the edge of the waterfalls.
You end up at the bottom of the water along the riverbed. Shells, sand and water abound around you. You move out of the room with the underwater scenes. Back to the land you go.
The ride spends 10-15 minutes riding along in a car with no cares in the world in the imaginary land of Runnamuck Park. Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck join in your adventure.
